A student once asked a Zen master to describe kensho, the first insight into one's true nature.  The Zen master replied, "A donkey peeks into a well, a deep, deep well."   Another Zen Master, upon hearing of this incident, commented, "I would have said the well peeks at the donkey."

   In a sermon, Meister Eckhart once said, "The eye with which I see God is the same eye with which God sees me."

   In a talk at the Kennedy Center, Krishnamurti said, "Our consciousness is, after all, universal consciousness."
