The Blue Ridge Zen Group will be having a Winter retreat on Flattop Mountain starting Tuesday December 27 with supper at 6:00 P.M., and ending with lunch on the following Saturday December 31.
The Flattop Zendo is in a wilderness setting at 2400 feet in the Blue Ridge Mountains next to Shenandoah National Park. Our retreats are close to nature, with kinhin on mountain trails, and encouragement from ravens, chipmunks and other wildlife as we sit.
To help cover expenses, we suggest a contribution of $120 to the Blue Ridge Zen Group. We request prepayment to reserve your place, with a full refund up one week before we start, if you change your mind. Scholarships are available. Part timers will be allowed, if there is room. To enroll, email brzen@comcast.net, or call Bill Stephens at 434-973-5435. Checks may be sent to Blue Ridge Zen Group, 4425 Advance Mills Rd., Earlysville, VA 22936. Attendance will be limited to 10 people. Please give a phone number for notification in case we cancel because of a winter storm.
Bring a warm sleeping bag, a towel, a flashlight, work clothes, clothes* for cold (perhaps seriously cold) mountain weather and a cool zendo, and your Buddha Nature.
* Thermal underwear and layers are recommended. Lap blankets and hats will be allowed in the Zendo.
